Kupwara, March, 15 (KNO) : Congress on Friday held maiden women’s workers meet here in Gulgam area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district with scores of women taking part in it, pledging to strengthen the party at the grass roots level. The maiden meet of Congress Women’s wing was chaired by Mir Shafeeqa, one of the senior active politicians from Kupwara district. Earlier, she was part of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Shafeeqa in her maiden speech on this occasion said that, previous regimes have dodged people and haven't fulfilled their promises made with poor, downtrodden people who had a solid hope after casting their vote will get relief from almost all the problems faced by them. Shafeeqa said that, “I'll work for the up-liftment of women who have been neglected over the years. Even in PDP government, Mehbooba Mufti being a woman Chief Minster left behind the plight of women who have suffered the most.” (KNO)
